so i just looked up some random stuff about the new avatar movie (thread popped up on 4chan) and it led me to some

youtube video...
it's like JEEZ GUYS has America STILL not learned enough about race in the media?! for goodness sake. It was really sad to click on some links in the youtube video of how like Caucasian people are CONVINCED that anime people "look Caucasian" and that Japanese people think Caucasian are superior and the epitome of beauty...

history of other cultures before they make such stupid claims.
They are seriously just letting the american media/art, which still stems all the stereotypes from decades ago, influence them. Drawn asian characters in america are ALWAYS drawn with smaller eyes, like in simpsons, political cartoons, etc...so caucasians here think that anime must look white, since everyone has big, normal eyes...
...even tho asians can have same sized eyes are a lotta other races...

and this underhanded sterotyping sucks for ALL races...black, hispanic, asian, middle eastern...there are still so little black characters who are not drawn w/o bigger lips and stuff. like for goodness sakes! do you NOT know how offensive that is?? same with the miley cyrus photo of all the slanty eye thing..."oh, slanty eyes are just a GOOFY FACE, i didn't mean anything about it *innocent*"

although people might not be so offended by it now, but she is just making the sterotype CONTINUE and showing a buncha little girls that it's 'okay' since, oh, haha, it was just a goofy face. uh huh.
i understand that stereotypes always will prevail, but like WHEN at least, is the stupid media not going to demand that obviously asian characters need to be casted as caucasian since 1) people won't watch an asian person as a hero and 2) it's based on a cartoon, so it's *flexible*
I let it slide at the AM panel, cuz..honestly, it wasn't the topic of the panel and i didn't want to deviate into like some crazy argument. But seriously, THIS topic would be so much better. Watching a bunch of congoers (predominately white, as our panel seemed like) finally LEARN a BIT about race in american media, how to look PAST it, and not say stupid stuff like "But Goku IS white"
A lot of those type of people are so confused...and it seriously makes them look like racist ignorants. and they only way to make them seem unignorant is to let us rip them a new hole. Ya, kinda sucks that it's like 'everything you do is wrong' but at LEAST properly have a debate. you know, with ASIAN people involved. And not a asian person who only hangs out with white people, sort of asian (ie, white-washed), but like, mebe an asian-american who still has connections with their culture?
i just clicked on some Fox news video talking about the cyrus lawsuit, and it was a buncha white people talking about how 'this lawsuit is SO STUPID, the lawyer's an idiot, she was just making a face, black people say racial slurs to each other all the time, all the kids do it, what's wrong?? hahaha so lame' and i'm like "YOU'RE WRONG. YOU'RE WRONG, and I HATE YOU. lol."
